Free To Be Me: Kicking Off a Portrait Project Rooted in Diversity, Storytelling, and Social Change
The ‘Free To Be Me’ Project officially kicked off with something unforgettable—a Diversity Group Shoot that brought together people from all walks of life to gather, connect, and use portraiture as a social medium. We were joined by two board members from Be Inclusive , a grassroots nonprofit doing incredible work to uplift the voices of underrepresented and marginalized communities. Listening to their mission and witnessing their passion reminded us: when we work together for a common cause, even the smallest ripple can grow into lasting change.
More than just a photo shoot, this experience was about building community, sharing space, and witnessing each other’s stories. Before the cameras even came out, we grounded ourselves—breathing together, releasing expectations, and welcoming vulnerability. From there, the energy shifted: laughter bubbled up, dancing broke out, and something deep within each of us began to open.
We talked about our “why”—who we represent and why it’s important to show up not only for ourselves but for those who don’t always feel seen. Everyone came in with their own narrative, and by the end of the day, we were all part of something bigger. The power of showing up—raw, real, and free—was undeniable.
The Diversity Group Shoot was the launch for the ‘Free To Be Me’ Project—a series of 1:1 portrait experiences designed to reflect your essence and serve as a bold declaration that your body, voice, and truth matter. Each session will celebrate who you are, in your fullness and complexity, while creating space to be seen, felt, and heard.
At the conclusion of the project, one portrait from each participant will be featured at our ‘Free To Be Me’ Gala—an event that honors our unique lived experiences and celebrates the beauty of showing up as your whole self. Proceeds will benefit Be Inclusive.
As an artist, a minority woman business owner, and an intersectional feminist, I’ve always believed that the art we create together can spark conversations, challenge harmful narratives, and amplify voices that need to be heard.
For the past 15 years, I’ve documented the human experience through photography—evolving my work into liberated portrait sessions that help clients break free from societal standards, body expectations, and self-doubt.
These are not just confidence-boosting photoshoots. They’re reclamations. They’re declarations. They are spaces where you get to see yourself as whole, powerful, and unapologetically YOU.
Portraits are more than images—they are a social medium. A platform for storytelling, connection, and change.
Now more than ever, as diversity faces challenges and attempts to be silenced, this is your invitation to show up as your truest self. When you do, you not only empower yourself—you offer others the courage to do the same.
Ready to Be Part of It?
Join the ‘Free To Be Me’ Project and use your voice, your body, and your truth as a work of art. Let your story be seen and celebrated.
Let’s create something beautiful—for you, and for the collective good.
